因為晚上一個人要去華人社區，所以隨便挑了一家中餐量飯店吃晚飯。這些量飯店賣點是三菜一湯或四菜一湯，價錢便宜，所謂廣東人說的「大件夾抵食」。
除了華人會光顧外，也吸引了不少想省錢的老外。另一個吸引老外的原因是，只需用身體語言指指點點，不用出聲點菜，避免很多言語上的誤會。
我點了叉燒(我以為是齋鹵味)、豆腐、肥豬肉(給叉燒蓋住了)和小棠菜。這頓飯原來還送一瓶礦泉水。
評語：除了叉燒比較硬之外，其餘都可以放入口的。湯下了味精是必然的，所以沒有喝。水，帶走了。

老外吃了那叉燒 , 會否以為叉燒就是如此硬呢 ?

Chinese fast food are the best fast food. I just simply can’t find another alternative that’s even close to the varieties that a buffet style Chinese fast food can offer. Not to mention the rock bottom price.
This kind of 3-ingredients over rice buffet style fast food seems to be a recent phenomenon. I couldn’t find of them three or four years ago. With food cost on the rise, I just can’t imagine how they can keep the price around $4.5, it’s unbelievable. I guess if you pick the food kind of correctly, you can still have a relatively healthy meal.

我吃雲吞麵那家小食店是華人開的，但可能不是廣東人，做的雲吞是全豬肉的，但又不是肉丸感覺，質地乾沒汁，太難吃了。唐人街的雲吞麵怎差也食得下肚。燒味更是顏色古怪，我看了也不想叫來吃。

If we’re talking about fast food, I think you’re right. But most of them don’t use good quality of meat, vegetable. To play safe, I would choose something that couldn’t be the worst even if you don’t cook it properly.

身邊的友人常說那是「騙老外的唐餐」。:p
這邊的唐人街的燒臘飯店，時常有西人在玻璃門外指指點點，很有興趣，但不夠勇氣推門進去一試。
有次聽到有個西婦向身旁的朋友解釋：

有一次看見一家中餐外賣店竟然沒有中文菜單﹗﹗豈有此理。

我也見過一對非華裔夫婦在燒臘店玻璃門外指點。
女的說：「咦，那個是不是燒豬腿呢？」
男的說：「不太像。可能是雞吧。」
我看了看，插嘴說：「都不是。那是牛肚﹗即牛的胃。」
兩人聞之色變，馬上夾道而逃。
Is it sold by the pound, or by the number of items? The Chinese restaurant nearest to my place has a steam table full of pre-cooked dishes. The shop-lady usually piles up the box and charges me 5 bucks!
Sometimes it’s better the gweilos don’t know what they’re eating or they’ll just puke.

It’s sold by items. But local people always call them 量飯店.
Yes, the one I ate costed me only 5 bucks too, including a bottle of water.
haha…they’re very skeptical about Chinese food.
